One major update is related to the renewal process and fee structure. Now, if you want to renew your driving licence, you must pay ₹200 for obtaining or renewing a permanent or learner’s driving licence.

Now Getting a Driving Licence Will Be Easier

Under the new driving licence rules, applicants can now take their driving test not only at the RTO but also at authorized private training centers.

According to the government, this step will help reduce the rush at RTO offices and make the process smoother for citizens. Now, you won’t have to wait in long queues at RTOs. You can visit any government-approved private driving school, take your test there, and get your driving licence issued.

Additionally, these new rules will eliminate the need to pay middlemen or brokers. You can simply go to an authorized private driving school, complete your test, and get your licence issued directly.

New Driving Licence Rules: Heavy Fine for Underage Drivers

According to the new regulations, if any minor (underage) — whether boy or girl — is found driving a vehicle, a fine of up to ₹25,000 will be imposed.

Moreover, the vehicle’s registration certificate (RC) can also be cancelled. Parents or guardians will be held responsible if their underage child is caught driving.

These steps are being taken by the government to reduce road accidents and ensure stricter compliance with safety rules.

Changes in the Driving Licence Process

The government has made the entire driving licence process simpler and more modernized.

• To be recognized, these schools must have at least one acre of land and modern testing facilities.
